Altán’s network reaches Chetumal and the Pueblo Mágico of Bacalar

CDMX, February 20, 2020.- Altán Redes, the Mexican mobile operator deploying Red Compartida, the country’s wholesale mobile broadband network, reports that as of today its network coverage is commercially available in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, and its suburban and rural areas, together with the Pueblo Mágico of Bacalar

 

With this commercial launch, more than 105 thousand inhabitants are covered under the 4.5G LTE network’s state-of-the-art technology, including more than 20,500 of them in the rural towns near the Capital of this state. 

Chetumal adds to the coverage already available in Cancun, Playa de Carmen, Cozumel, which together with the Pueblos Mágicos of Tulum and now Bacalar, provide important high-speed data and high-quality voice coverage. With the arrival of Altán’s Red Compartida, Quintana Roo is expanding its telecommunications infrastructure with new cellular sites and fiber optics for the benefit of its residents and visitors.

Altán’s Red Compartida Network, the 4.5G LTE network with the best performance in the country, in service since March 2018, has more than 60 operators under its wholesale offer model, through which mobile or home broadband and business services are marketed for the population in Mexico.  

The national coverage of Altán’s Red Compartida Network is now available for 57 million people (almost 11 million of them in towns with less than 10,000 inhabitants) in 31 cities (including its surrounding areas), and 58 Pueblos Mágicos. In terms of installed infrastructure, it has more than 4,500 cellular sites in all the regions of the country, as well as the use of more than 32,000 kilometers of optical fiber connecting the network.
