ALTÁN denies having had access to insider or confidential information to prepare its Offer or having received any other preferential treatment during the tender process

Response to the statements made by Rivada Networks, the group disqualified from the tender to roll out Red Compartida for failing to submit the Bid Bond

Mexico City, 21 December 2016. ALTÁN Redes SAPI de CV, the company created by the ALTÁN Consortium, winner of the international tender process to roll out Red Compartida, categorically states that:

  1. Its winning proposal to roll out Red Compartida is entirely original, independent and unique. It was led and prepared by ALTÁN’s professional team of specialist advisors, which does not include consultants related either directly or indirectly to Deloitte.
  2. ALTÁN has not sought or had access to insider information at any point during the process.
  3. ALTÁN has not received insider information from representatives or employees of Deloitte or those of any public entity.

The accusation made by Rivada Networks is both baseless and malicious. Their continual attempts at misinformation are designed to divert public opinion away from the real reason for its disqualification: Rivada’s proven inability – a point the Company itself concedes – to meet an essential condition of the tender process in due time and form: submit a bid bond for MXN 1 billion. The reiterated and groundless accusations may be an attempt to obstruct the effective deployment of Red Compartida, which ALTÁN is in the process of rolling out, as the legitimate winner of the tender, following a rigorous, transparent and efficient process carried out over the past 11 months by public entities, led by the Mexican Ministry of Communication and Transportation.

ALTÁN Redes will defend its rights before the pertinent court of law in view of the groundless statements and accusations voiced by Rivada Networks, its CEO and spokespeople, which are totally unjust and aimed at delaying and ultimately preventing the efficient deployment of Red Compartida.

The ALTÁN Consortium won the international tender to design, install, operate and maintain the Red Compartida, wholesale broadband infrastructure that will provide state-of-the-art telecommunication services to at least 92.2% of the Mexican population. Red Compartida, a pioneering world first project, will provide the most advanced broadband voice and data services using 4G-LTE technology, a system which barely reaches 50% of the country today and which, thanks to Red Compartida, will reach 9 out of 10 people in Mexico.

Thanks to ALTÁN Redes, Red Compartida will ensure access to these services in areas not covered by traditional operators. Once completed, the new wholesale network will offer retail operators cutting-edge broadband mobile, data and voice services under very competitive terms. As mentioned above, Rivada’s actions could be aimed at preventing these benefits from coming to fruition.
